KNIGHT William R. Knight, Sr., 77,
passed away February 2, 2009. Bill
was born in Jacksonville and was a
graduate of Robert E. Lee High
School. He retired from the
Jacksonville Fire Department after
38 years of service. He was assigned
to station 23 when he retired but
spent many years at station 10. He
was preceded in death by his
parents, Joseph Elmer and Florence
Dorothy Silva Knight; brother,
Joseph Elmer Knight, Jr. He is
survived by his wife, Frances; son,
William R. Knight, Jr. (Stephanie);
daughters, Karen Knight, Robin
McFarland (Roger); stepson, Alan
Norton (Debbie); sister, Dorothy
Mathes; 6 grandchildren. Memorial
service will be 2:00p.m. Thursday,
February 5, 2009 at
Hardage-Giddens-Edgewood Chapel with
Jacksonville Fire & Rescue
Department (JFRD) Chaplain Percy
Golden officiating. In lieu of
flowers the family suggest memorial
